DESIGN PROJECT BRIEF

The San Diego Coastkeeper publishes an annual Watershed Report with data collected from local waterways and results of the state of the habitat within those waters. This was the page layout and design for the 2011 annual report. Total page count was to be approximately 100 pages. Requirements included: strict use of grid layout to display the information in a consistent manner, include images taken by the volunteers in the field, and work closely with the office staff at SDCK to include the most up to date copy as it was received.

MY ROLE

The Watershed Report project was given to me by Myles at 9MYLES design who had worked with the organization on various other projects and he provided initial direction and project directives before handing off to me. I then took the assets provided by the SDCK to design and layout all the pages produced for the annual report.

DESIGN SOLUTIONS

Select spreads from the SD Coastkeeper Annual Watershed Report showing execution of typographical hierarchy, image selection and placement, color palette, use of white space, data visualization, and design aesthetics used to display the varied information included in the report pages.
